About Course

The accelerated growth of the Internet has contributed greatly to the way users and devices interact with each other. As the popularity of the Internet grew, so did the size of networks and number of connected devices, which led to increased computing power, plummeting prices, and improved communication speeds and accessibility. Eventually, connecting devices became cheaper, easier, and more reliable. In 1999, Kevin Ashton termed this idea of using a cheap sensor, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), as part of supply chain optimization as the “Internet of Things” (or IoT).

Learners gain insight and examine this collection of sensors, actuators and computing capabilities, not only how they work together to solve problems and provide services, but also how they drive decisions. This course will take learners through each aspect of IoT and how their characteristics and choices drive decisions, leave gaps and create security vulnerabilities.

The interactive, self-guided format blends both knowledge and performance-based training components to provide a truly unique and dynamic learning experience that builds and reinforces the critical skills required to perform real-world technical tasks.
